If you would have told me a year ago that I would be sitting in Gainesville, Georgia tonight, getting ready to start long-term missions training – I would have stared at you and started laughing – out loud.
I mean, what in the world? How did we wind up here? Aren’t we supposed to be living the dream in Knoxville with our single ladies? (aka ellie + emma)
Well, we were and then God started knocking. I guess I’d say it started in February. Me and my main squeeze headed to the beach (in the dead of winter. it was freezing.) and we started talking. We started dreaming and we started asking questions. And we felt that all familiar tug. You know, that tug that says, “change is in the air.”
I’ll spare the details, but basically we knew God was calling us into a new season, but we had no clue what it was supposed to look like. And then God. Right? God. He just showed up. Pretty much miraculously. If you know us, you know this. 😉
And so here we are. Me, Johnny, his jokes, and beard and the girls. And we’re getting ready to embark on one of the wildest adventures of our lives. My heart is actually beating faster as I type it.
Something I knew I loved about Johnny when I first met him was that he was sold out for Jesus. He had this call on his life and I knew I wanted to be part of it. So here we are, on the eve of training, getting ready for a new chapter that is surely going to fly the socks right off our feet and probably cause my hairsprayed bangs to go wild – but honestly – the thought of going “out there” again. Gosh, there’s just nothing like it.
Come Lord, Jesus, come. You knew. You always did and you always do. Thanks for always showing up in the big and the small details. And thanks for placing us in a place that has the best coffee in the whole world! 🙂
