Costa Rica, if you haven’t heard already is the future home for the Eastman family starting in January… And we are pumped! We have been all over Central America, but it wasn’t until a little over a week ago that I had ever been there. Central America is where Christin and I fell in love, where we had our honeymoon, and where we have gone back on mission trips since coming home from the World Race. So having the honor and privilege of serving in Costa Rica is a dream come true for our family.
But before we officially move there in January, we figured we should at least see the country once before moving there, so that’s what I did! A little over a week ago, I got back from visiting Costa Rica for 10 days.
So here are a few things I thought I would share with you in bullet points just in case your attention span is as short as mine.
-
The country is beautiful.
-
The driving is wild! (wear a seatbelt and a helmet)
-
When it rains, it pours. (the streets flood)
-
There is a ton of need.
-
The people are beautiful.
-
World Race Gap Year Q-Squad are rock stars!
-
The Costa Rica Base Team is the dream team!
-
We currently have 7-8 ministry partners for teams to serve with.
-
76% of the country claims to Catholic.
-
26% of the country lives in extreme poverty.
-
It is not cheap to live in Costa Rica.
-
The coffee is amazing.
Moving forward, Our hope is to fill you in on our journey as things progress. We plan to leave the States for Costa Rica on January 5th. We are about $1500/month away from being fully funded and we know God will come through like He always does. If you feel called to partner with us financially or in prayer, we would be honored. We are excited to take you along on the journey that God has us on!
We love you all!
