We started Squad Leader Training this week here in Georgia and it’s been so good to be back. I’ve been really excited about this training because I absolutely love squad leaders. They carry so much responsibility and have quite a bit on their plates and just being part of their journeys and talking with and encouraging them is right up our alley.
Day 1 is on the books and I am t.i.r.e.d but full.
(If you’re wondering what a Squad Leader is, it’s someone who has previously gone on The World Race and is now a decision maker for the squad.)
With Gap Year, SQL’s go out the whole 9 months and disciple, correct and activate the Racers in their walk with the Lord. Johnny and I will get to have a lot of conversations and quality time with these amazing people in Costa Rica.)
We met three of the SQL groups that will be coming through next year and each one has been such a blessing. They are passionately pursuing the life God has called them to live and it is so inspiring. I love the way they pray for each other (and for me hallelujah!) and the way they truly care so much about their squad.
There is so much detail, so much prayer and so much work that goes into making Gap Year amazing for the participants. Getting this behind the scenes look is like going to Disneyland for me. Kid you not, it’s the BEST!
On a more personal note, this morning during worship, someone prayed asking God to help us live from a place of abiding in Him rather than striving and I realized in that moment how often I strive. I don’t think that abiding necessarily means just laying in my hammock all day (although we all know that IS SO GOOD!) but abiding just means that we are living in tune to the Holy Spirit and that we are seeking God’s heart in what we do. That we are living from a place of peace…living from a place of knowing who we are in Christ.
I don’t know about you, but when I strive, I usually do it because I want someone’s approval. I want them to be proud of me or notice me and that’s not how I want to be. It’s easy to slip into that mentality, but it’s not healthy to stay there. I would love to hear your thoughts about it!
Ok…Now for a really exciting announcement!!!
If you follow us on social, you know we’ve added a new teammate, Bethy – aka resident All-star. She has been such a blessing to us in so many ways and we are so thankful for the journey the Lord has her on. We had our first impromptu team time tonight and it was awesome. I really believe God’s plan for this world changer’s life is HUGE. Like I can’t even fathom the Kingdom that will come through her beautiful surrender to His call for her life.
Definition of team time: Checking in with the people you are doing life with and finding out how they are doing. Encouraging them, processing the good and the tough stuff with them and laughing a whole lot. 🙂
So that’s us! Keep praying with us for God to continue to move in Generation Z’s heart. We are SO believing for mighty miracles over this next year. Sometimes the miracle is a heart wound healing and sometimes it’s a total body healing – whatever God has in store, we are so excited!
Sending our love and thank you for your prayers!
Johnny, Christin, Ellie, Emma and BETHY!
PS
The little sisters are doing really well. They always seem so happy to be back here at Adventures and they love exploring the property. It’s been a great day and we are expectant and full of faith that the Lord has a sweet week in store for us.
God has got you guys just where He wants you. Love reading your updates.
